Semmelweis University
Semmelweis University, the only university in Hungary dedicated solely to health science studies from undergraduate to professional level, is one of the most important education centres and at the same time the largest health-care institution. Semmelweis University has evolved as a consequence of the integration process by 2000 from the merging of three „old”, prestigious Universities taking advantage of their profound knowledge and experience in various branches of health sciences. Semmelweis University has a 200 year old tradition of academic excellence and commitment to the education of physicians. It offers an exciting mixture of courses and research opportunities closely linked to current health care practice. The five faculties College of Health Care, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science cover a wide range of scientific disciplines and the School of Ph.D. Studies organises the postgraduate research work. Semmelweis University has a threefold task: teaching, providing medical care and research.
Research
Medical education has been known for its well-earned reputation regarding its very practically orientated training of surgeons and doctors based on the latest results of scientific research. Semmelweis University offers an interesting range of training and research opportunities closely linked to current practice. On completion of a chosen subject students can join the Students’ Scientific Society to start their scientific career.
