University of Sussex
The University of Sussex has a flourishing School of Life Sciences which has been designed to foster leading-edge interdisciplinary research through its close research collaborations with, for example, the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience and Robotics.
The School incorporates four departments Biochemistry; Biology & Environmental Science; Chemistry; and Psychology which span the range of life sciences.
The University welcomes collaborations, with current partners ranging from international corprations, smaller local businesses, community organistations, the public sector and other Universities. We look forward to working together whether on a research project, or by providing of access to our specialist consultants or facilities.
Particular areas of research strength include:
The Genome Damage and Stability Centre, which undertakes multi-organism research into responses of cell to genome damage and the relationship of protective processes to cancer.
The Sussex Centre for Neuroscience which is working toward understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the generation of behaviour, processing of sensory information, acquisition and storage of information and the development of specific connections between neurons.
